French Visa Process

The process to receive a French visa can be quiet difficult and there are a few rules.  Before you arrive at the French Consulate you need to get a confirmation email from Campus France.  Campus France is a website where you give information about yourself and why you need the visa including any supporting documents they may need, and because nothing is free in life there is a $180 fee once you have turned everything in.  After the $180 there are a few documents that need to be mailed into their office in Washington DC- those forms can be found online on Campus France’s website.  Once you pay the fee you it can take up to three weeks to receive your confirmation email; you should receive an email usually no more than a week later stating that Campus France has processed your money.    If you do not receive this email, you should call them to make sure there is no issue with your profile.  Their office hours are from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, you may get an automated voice message that says to call back during normal office hours even though you.  There is an expedited process for Campus France with a cost of $330 and you will receive the confirmation email within 3 business days.  The process to receive a French visa can be quiet difficult and there are a few rules.  Before you arrive at the French Consulate you need to get a confirmation email from Campus France.  You need to make an appointment at the French Consulate at the one your state is zoned for.   For example, I live in North Carolina so I was zoned for the Consulate in Atlanta, if I wanted to go to the Consulate in Washington D.C., they would not see me because I am not a resident of the states zoned for that specific Consulate.  You should book an appointment at the Consulate a month in advance because spots fill up quick – I booked my appointment before I finished my Campus France application.  THEY WILL NOT SEE YOU IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE CONFIRMATION EMAIL FROM CAMPUS FRANCE FIRST.  There is a list online that tells you what to bring with you to your appointment at the Consulate- make sure to bring a front and back copy of your driver license even though it does not say it on the list.  Once you are done at the Consulate it can take up to three weeks to receive your visa, which is inside your passport, or if the Consulate needs more information they will contact you and ask for more information.  Best of luck to everyone in this process!
